Rock Creek Parkway is expected to be closed in both directions Thursday between Connecticut Avenue/Calvert Street NW and Virginia Avenue NW into the morning rush hour because a car went into the water.
Just before 6 a.m., U.S. Park Police said crews were working to try to figure out what happened, according to The Washington Post.
Sgt. Lelani Woods, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Park Police, told the paper that a vehicle was traveling south on the parkway around 2 a.m. and crossed over into the northbound lane, went off the road, and into the water.

She said a man and woman were inside the vehicle at the time. Both were transported to area hospitals. She said the woman was listed in serious condition and she did not have immediate information on the condition of the man.
