Arlington Resident Was Victim of Sunday's Key Bridge Accident

Sunday night, Eliester Pineda, 22, was struck and killed while crossing the Key Bridge.

Eliester Pineda was struck and killed in a hit and run accident Sunday night just after 10:35. Pineda, 22, worked at both and in Georgetown. An officer responding to the fatal accident and is in stable condition. The driver in each instance has been charged with driving under the influence.

Friends are collecting donations on Pineda's behalf to help cover the cost of sending his body home for burial in Guatemala. Contributions can be mailed or dropped off at Martin's Tavern at 1264 Wisconsin Ave.

Pineda, the father of a two-year-old boy, had recently just bought a home for his mother in Guatemala, according to ANC Commmissioner Ed Solomon. The victim had been walking his moped across the Key Bridge and was near the Virginia line when he was struck Sunday evening.
