Weekend Burglaries on Campus and in the Community

Two residential burglaries were reported over the weekend.

A West Village home and a Georgetown University dorm room were burglarized over the weekend. 

A burglary was reported just before 5 p.m. Saturday on the 1400 block of 33rd Street (between O and P Street).

Second District Commander Michael Reese responded on the Metropolitan Police Department list serv to an email request about the incident, writing simply, "Property was stolen from a basement apartment."

According to an email on the Georgetown list serv, neighbors "were told that a male kicked in a front door; a resident was home but unharmed." Patch was not immediately able to confirm that information.

The incident at Georgetown University took place in the early hours of Saturday morning in Village C West, at 37th and O Streets, NW. A student reported a missing laptop at about 8 a.m. The laptop had been there when the student left the room at 1 a.m. that same morning, according to the Department of Public Safety website.
