ANC2E Preview: GU Plan and Development Projects Dominate

The ANC2E meeting Monday, Feb. 28 will address the Georgetown University campus plan and two large development plans.

Georgetown's Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC2E) will hold its monthly meeting tonight where it will consider a resolution on the Georgetown University Campus Plan as well as two large development projects.

The ANC last week detailing the various ways in which the campus plan would negatively impact the neighborhood. The ANC statement will be added to the Zoning Commission (ZC) case files for the University's proposed plan.

The document lays out a case for the community's fierce opposition to the GU plan, detailing problems caused by the previous plan's failures and offering recommendations for improvements and changes by the University. The key points include reducing the number of students living off campus and better managing student behavior when in the community.

Two other items of note are the plans for Hurt Home and the Georgetown Post Office.

  • The Hurt Home case includes a map amendment and special exception for a new residential development.
  • The adjusted plans after the Office of Planning (OP) decided that a commercial use was not appropriate and once again when the Old Georgetown Board (OGB) had plenty to criticize about the new residential design. The ANC will reconsider the updated design plans.

The ANC meeting is at Georgetown Visitation, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 28.
