Bring Spoiled Food to Certain DC Schools for Disposal

Residents can stop by DC public schools Monday and Tuesday to dispose of food spoiled because of power outages from .

Department of Public Works crews will collect spoiled food from 3 to 7 p.m. locally at Key Elementary (5001 Dana Pl., N) and Wilson High School (3950 Chesapeake St., NW).

DPW is offering collection services in addition to normal trash collection in case residents do not want to wait until their normal collection day to dispose of spoiled food items.

As a reminder, DPW will not be collecting trash Wednesday, July 4th so collection schedules will slide by one day. If your trash is normally collected once a week on Wednesday, it will be picked up on Thursday. If your trash is normally collected Thursday, it will be collected Friday and so on.
