DPR Facilities Closed Today

Facilities, including pools, are closed for the day, Wednesday.

Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) facilities are closed Wednesday as the agency holds its annual staff development conference.

Closures impact all DPR facilities, including recreation/community centers, all aquatics facilities and all administrative offices.

According to a notice on the DPR website:

DPR will use this day to convene all of the Agency's employees, in an effort to review the level of service DPR provides to District residents and guests; and to set goals to ensure that residents continue to receive a high quality of service at all DPR centers, parks and events.

This means nearby facilities at Jelleff, Guy Mason, Stoddert and Wilson will not be available for public use Wednesday.

DPR will operate under normal hours on Thursday.

Last week the District Council held a public hearing on DPR's facilities and permiting processes. Local group Stoddert Soccer brough parents, children and organizers to the meeting to object to the permitting process and the reduction in after school time they received for practice this year.
