DPW Says Free Parking and No Trash Pickup Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day Nov. 11, the Department of Public Works will cease several services Thursday. Service will resume Friday, Nov. 12.

On Veterans Day, Nov. 11, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will not collect trash and recycling, however leaf collection will continue in "area A" neighborhoods.

Services will resume Nov. 12 in a sliding schedule; Thursday's collections will be made Friday and Friday's collections will be made Saturday. A friendly reminder, trash and recycling containers should not be put out for collection before 6:30 p.m. the night before collection and should be removed by 8 p.m. on the collection day. Ask your neighbors to help out if you are out of town or working late.

On the up side to the service cuts for the holiday: free parking and no towing. That means parking meters, residential parking restrictions and rush hour lane violations will not be enforced; neither will towing abandoned vehicles.
