Evans Seeks Library Hours Expansion

Ward 2 Councilman wants neighborhood libraries open 7 days a week.

Ward 2 Councilman Jack Evans introduced a bill that would expand the hours of operations for Washington, D.C. public libraries. Under Evans' proposal libraries would be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

"I hear from residents around the District on a regular basis about our inadequate library hours and this bill is the first step in fixing the problem. I am confident that out of our $10 billion budget, we can find $10 million to make this a reality" said Evans in a prepared statement.
