Final Round of Testimony on GU Campus Plan Tonight, DDOT Report as Focus

The Zoning Commission will hold a final limited scope hearing on the Georgetown University Campus Plan this evening.

The sixth and final night of testimony on the Georgetown Campus Plan will take place this evening as the Zoning Commission holds a limited scope hearing that focuses on the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) supplemental report. , DDOT officials testified that the agency could not support the current Georgetown University Campus Plan application primarily because the transportation information submitted by the university was insufficient.

Georgetown followed up, submitting a technical memorandum to DDOT. In its June 14th response, the agency wrote to the commission that the university's report continued to provide insufficient information and therefore DDOT does not support the applicant's (Georgetown University) request for approval.

The agency cited several concerns with the data provided that echoed worries raised by neighbors, including the use of Reservoir Road for hospital traffic, congestion on the narrow streets surrounding the university and the potential future impact of GUTS buses and the proposed left turn signal on Canal Road.
