Georgetown Candidates Forum is Oct. 4

Candidates for the at-large seats on the District Council will be in attendance.

Next week Georgetowners can hear directly from candidates for one of the only contested local positions in the November election: At-large Member of the District Council. Two total will be elected.

Current Councilmen Michael A. Brown and Vincent Orange will be joined by challengers David Grosso and Mary Brooks Beatty on Oct. 4 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Mary Brooks Beatty is running as a Republican. She is a Ward 6 resident.

Michael A. Brown is running for re-election as an independent; he was first elected in 2008. Brown serves as the Chairman Pro-Tempore and At-Large Councilmember of the Council of the District of Columbia. He is a Ward 4 resident.

David Grosso is running as an independent. He is a Ward 5 resident.

Vincent Orange is running for re-election as a Democrat; he was elected in the 2011 special election. He is a Ward 5 resident.

The event, hosted by the Georgetown Business Association, will take place at St. John's Episcopal Church (3240 O St., NW).

Local media organizations, including Patch, The Georgetown Current, The Georgetown Dish and the Georgetowner, will submit questions in advance and prepare additional questions for the candidates during the two hour event next Thursday.
