Hearing Time On How Halcyon House Can Be Used

Neighbors concerned about pressure that events could bring to area.

The Board of Zoning Adjustment is scheduled to meet Tuesday to decide whether the historic Halcyon House can be used for a non-profit.

The Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) and neighbors had been concerned about plans to bring 10 or more events per month to the house, which sits at the corner of Prospect and 34th streets NW in Georgetown.

S&R Foundation's agreement to reduce the size and number of events planned for the historic house earned it's support from the ANC.

Representatives for the owners said the house would hold large galas only on weekends when students were out of town.

The hearing is at 41 4th Street N.W.
