Holiday Tree Collection Begins Jan. 3

D.C. Department of Public Works will collect discarded holiday trees between Jan. 3 and Jan. 14.

Now that Santa has come and gone and we rang in the new year, the D.C. Department of Public Works (DPW) will begin collecting holiday trees and wreaths and recycling them.

DPW will begin curbside pickup Jan. 3 and continue on through Jan. 14. The agency asks residents to remove all decorations and to place the trees and wreaths in treeboxes in front of your home between Monday, Jan. 2, and Mon., January 9. Do not place trees in plastic or cloth bags.

If you miss the Jan. 14 deadline, the tree will not be recylced and must be set out with your trash to be picked up as space in the trash trucks allows over the following weeks.
