No Trash Collection, Parking Tickets on Inauguration Day

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) will not collect trash Inauguration Day and will not enforce parking violations, except in areas where there are safety restrictions or "Emergency No Parking" signs in place.

DPW officers will not enforce expired meters, residential parking and rush hour lane restrictions. There will also be no booting or abandoned vehicle removal.

However, according to a DPW press release:

"Ticketing and towing will take place for all safety restrictions, e.g., bus stops, driveways, hydrants, and crosswalks, and emergency no parking areas. Throughout the District, vehicles parked where “Emergency No Parking” signs are posted will be towed."

Trash collection will be halted Monday and will resume Tuesday on a sliding schedule.

For Georgetown residents, who usually have trash collected twice a week on Tuesday and Friday, collections this week will be made Wednesday and Saturday.

For Burleith and Glover Park residents, who usually have their trash collected once a week on Thursdays, collection will happen Friday instead.
