Nude Dancing Club Subject of Meeting Tuesday

The Glover Park Citizens Association is holding an emergency meeting to vote on measures impacting JP's.

Is "family-centered" Glover Park about to get private alcoves at its nude dancing club?

The Glover Park Citizens Association (GPCA) is meeting Tuesday to vote on whether JP's, 2412 Wisconsin Ave., NW, should get a renewed liquor license and whether "private alcoves" should be allowed at the nude dancing club in Glover Park.

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) voted on two resolutions at its July meeting.

The strip club is under new ownership and has applied to allow nude dancing on both table tops and in private alcoves.

The ANC's resolution about renewing the liquor license states in part:

"ANC3B remains convinced that JP's is not appropriate in a residential, family-centered neighborhood in Glover Park and we have real concerns about the consequences of allowing JP's to operate in our community."

In a note on the Glover Park listserv, the GPCA wrote:

"If the GPCA is to join the ANC 3B in opposing the liquor license renewal and the substantial changes, members must pass a resolution by the late August deadline for doing so.

We encourage all of our neighbors to join us for a discussion of the ANC's resolutions; you must be a GPCA member to cast a vote."

Members of the GPCA can vote on the organization's stance at a meeting Tuesday at Stoddert Elementary, 4001 Calvert St., NW, at 7 p.m.

Editor's Note: This article has been updated to correct an error. The ANC voted on these resolutions in July. They will not be voting on them in September as originally reported. I regret the error.

Makes sense that "Rather Be Anonymous" doesn't want anyone to know who they are. So you think people who want to do something you don't like should have to drive away from YOUR neighborhood, and you pull out the "because of the children" BS, thinking it gives your selfishness more validity? Because I don't give a rat's *** where your teenage daughters are being raised. Not my problem, not my concern. Did you know that JPs has been a strip club going back long before you were probably even born? I know that the previous owner inherited it from his father when he was a sophomore at a local catholic high school, back in 1986 or 1987, long before your teenage daughters were being irresponsibly moved into a neighborhood with two strip clubs by their naive and neglectful parents. Or is it that you were born and raised in that glover park homestead, and these nefarious evildoer outsiders just appeared one day recently to destroy your tranquility? I love the rhetoric of uptight people. So self-righteous.

Down with the self righteous! Let them skanks dance. even cooler would be if they had no liquor license and did what many restaurants do in that situation and let people BYOB.

"Mclean Homeowner" is just as cowardly as "Rather Be Anonymous"

I guess if you guys really need to have naked girls in our area to perform for you (r money) it is not the end of world. I assume there are prostitutes in McLean too, but if McLean homeowner wants them in my area, I guess that is his right.? By all means- no reason why we should not invite open air drug markets as well.. ? But mr righteous McLean, would you mind a strip club on you block? And no, I am not from Glover Park, but did grow up in Georgetown. I had a friend who worked at JP's long ago.. he died of AIDS..(I swear its true) But whatever. Bring on your trash. Pigs win. Enjoy.
