Nude Dancing Club Subject of Meeting Tuesday

The Glover Park Citizens Association is holding an emergency meeting to vote on measures impacting JP's.

The Glover Park Citizens Association (GPCA) is meeting Tuesday to vote on whether JP's, 2412 Wisconsin Ave., NW, should get a renewed liquor license and whether "private alcoves" should be allowed at the nude dancing club in Glover Park.

The Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) voted on two resolutions at its July meeting.

The strip club is under new ownership and has applied to allow nude dancing on both table tops and in private alcoves.

The ANC's resolution about renewing the liquor license states in part:

"ANC3B remains convinced that JP's is not appropriate in a residential, family-centered neighborhood in Glover Park and we have real concerns about the consequences of allowing JP's to operate in our community."

In a note on the Glover Park listserv, the GPCA wrote:

"If the GPCA is to join the ANC 3B in opposing the liquor license renewal and the substantial changes, members must pass a resolution by the late August deadline for doing so.

We encourage all of our neighbors to join us for a discussion of the ANC's resolutions; you must be a GPCA member to cast a vote."

Members of the GPCA can vote on the organization's stance at a meeting Tuesday at Stoddert Elementary, 4001 Calvert St., NW, at 7 p.m.

Editor's Note: This article has been updated to correct an error. The ANC voted on these resolutions in July. They will not be voting on them in September as originally reported. I regret the error.
