Palisades Playground Closed Through Wednesday

The playground is getting some last-minute repairs through July 31.

The Palisades playground will be closed Monday through Wednesday, according to a notice from Ward 3 Councilwoman Mary Cheh's office.

The DC Department of General Services needed to "complete some final construction projects and some touch-up work, like painting," according to the notice.

The playground at 5200 Sherrier Place NW was the first "Play DC" playground to be completed in Ward 3. The ribbon cutting for the park was July 4th after the annual parade.

The upgraded elements include movable play equipment, like building blocks, a new spray feature, outdoor exercise equipment, the city's first skate spot, according to a press release about the earlier ribbon cutting.

There are other nearby playgrounds to take the kids including:

  • Rose Park at 26th and O streets NW in Georgetown
  • Volta Park at Volta Place between 33rd and 34th streets NW in Georgetown
  • Guy Mason Recreation Center at 3600 Calvert St. NW in Glover Park
