Original story: Metro riders should expect delays along the Blue and Orange lines this afternoon due to a person being struck by a train at Foggy Bottom.

An unidentified person was struck by an inbound train at the station at about 2:12 p.m., Metro spokesman Dan Stessel told Patch. The person appears to have intentionally gotten in front of the train, Stessel said.

Orange Line trains are single-tracking between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon. Blue Line trains are single tracking between Foggy Bottom and Arlington National Cemetery.

Both lines are bypassing Foggy Bottom.

Metro hopes to have the system back on normal schedule by 5 p.m., Stessel said.

No more information is availalble about the person who was struck, Stessel said, as that person is still under the train.

Metro recommends that commuters take alternate routes around Foggy Bottom, including Metrobus bus routes 32, 36, 38 and 39.
