President Obama Visits Georgetown, Expect Traffic Delays

President Obama will speak about energy at Georgetown University's McDonough Arena Wednesday.

Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, March 30, President Obama will visit
Georgetown University to speak on energy security. The President is expected to speak at 11:15 a.m. in McDonough Arena. His visit will be accompanied by necessary security restrictions for entrance to the University via car from 6 a.m. to noon.

The Canal Road entrance will be limited only to University-related vehicles with access to the Southwest garage. Both the Prospect Street and Reservoir Road entrances  will be open to both non-University and University-related vehicles.

The talk is open to students, faculty and staff at Georgetown. Everyone else can watch the broadcast in real time on the university website.

Edward Montgomery, dean of the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, said the speech is a natural follow-up on President Obama's speech on Libya.

“I think it naturally raises the question – here is a major exporter of oil and what does the situation in this country and the instability in the Middle East say for America, both in terms of its defense and its national security policy but also in terms of its energy policy,” he said.
