Report: DC Experiences 911 Problems After Back-Up Power Fails

Callers to 911 had longer wait times, Washington Post reports.

Anyone who was calling 911 Tuesday in the District of Columbia likely were holding the line due to a failure with back-up power, according to an AP report in The Washington Post.

The city's Unified Communications Center apparently lost power Tuesday afternoon after using generator power for about 13 hours.

The power failure resulted in longer wait times for 911 calls and lost communication between police and firefighter radio communication.
