Sekou Biddle Secures Post and City Paper Endorsements

Biddle is running against incumbent Vincent Orange, to whom he lost his seat last April.

Sekou Biddle secured endorsements from both the Washington Post and the Washington City Paper in his run for the at-large council seat in the April 3 election. The seat is currently held by Vincent Orange who ousted Biddle in the .

Biddle lost that race to Vincent Orange, partially because he was unable to shake the perception that he was part of the problem in .

When Orange was elected, , "The fact is, Orange was not elected because residents believe he’ll bring about change. He was elected because he’s well known, and he ran a strong campaign. That’s what a seasoned politician does."

This time around, Biddle is running as a reform candidate.

"We have a government and Council of which we cannot be proud," he said at a Glover Park ANC meeting in December 2011.

Both the Washington Post and the Washington City Paper cited Biddle's grasp of the issues, especially education.

The Washington Post writes, "Mr. Biddle would bring a thoughtful, nuanced approach to the complex issues facing the city.

In endorsing the Washington City Paper writes, "Biddle brings a long track record on education reform, a progressive outlook on the city’s problems, and a sense of how to balance the needs and interests of all its residents."
