UPDATE Tuesday: DC Lifts Snow Emergency

Plus school schedule, bus schedule, snow plowing information.

UPDATE Tuesday, 9:30 a.m.: The District of Columbia has lifted its Snow Emergency.

The District of Columbia government will open two hours late, Tuesday, March 4, 2014. 

DCPS Schools will also open 2 hours late. 

During the snow emergency, the District Snow Team (Department of Public Works and Department of Transportation) was authorized to clear snow emergency routes curb to curb. (Track DC plows here.)

The District of Columbia declared a snow emergency that went into effect as of 7 a.m., Monday March 3. The snow emergency was just lifted Tuesday morning at about 9:30 a.m. When a snow emergency is declared:

  • Do not park along snow emergency routes. (See the routes here.)
  • Vehicles parked along emergency routes are subject to a $250 fine and towing & impoundment fees.
  • DPW no longer relocates vehicles in neighborhoods during snow emergencies.
  • Call (202) 541-6083 to locate a towed vehicle.

Transportation

Some bus routes will be adjusted Tuesday to avoid hilly, narrow streets; riders encouraged to check website for details

Metrobus service will transition from the current "severe" snow plan to a "moderate" snow service plan, starting at 7 a.m. Tuesday. 

Under the moderate snow service plan, all Metrobus routes will have service as of 7 a.m. Tuesday, with snow detours in effect to keep buses off of hilly terrain, narrow side streets and other problem areas. Riders can get details and check maps showing the planned detours by using the links below:
