In observation of the Veterans Day holiday, the federal government is closed Monday and most local government agencies will not be providing services.
Government Agency Closures:
D.C. Public Schools and offices are closed.
The D.C. Public Libraries are closed.
All Department of Motor Vehicles locations are closed.
The Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs is closed.
Metrorail: According to the WMATA website, trains will operate on a Saturday schedule Monday, with . Riders benefit from off-peak fares all day and free parking at Metro-operated facilities.
DC Department of Parks and Recreation: According to a news release, "All Recreation Centers and Aquatic Centers will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. All scheduled permitted events and activities on DPR fields will be made available for the permitted time period only."
Trash Collection: There will be no trash and recycling collections. Trash and recycling collections will “slide” to the next day for the remainder of the week. For example, Monday’s trash and recycling collections will be made Tuesday, and Tuesday’s collections will be made Wednesday. In neighborhoods with twice-weekly trash collections, Monday and Thursday collections will be made Tuesday and Friday. Collections normally made Tuesday and Friday, will be made Wednesday and Saturday. Trash and recycling containers should be placed out for collection no earlier than 6:30 pm the night before collection and removed from public space by 8 p.m. on the day(s) of collection.
Parking Enforcement: Parking enforcement, including ticket writing for residential parking, expired meters, street sweeping and rush-hour violations, will be suspended. DPW also will suspend towing abandoned vehicles. Enforcement will resume Tuesday.
