Vincent Orange is Presumptive Winner in At-Large Race, Patrick Mara Concedes

Initial results from the April 26 election for the At-Large seat on the District Councl have Democrat Vincent Orange winning with just over 28 percent of the vote.

Republican Patrick Mara, who both Georgetown precincts, conceded to Orange Tuesday evening; Mara garnered just under 26 percent of the vote. Turnout was low throughout the city with a mere 12.16 percent of registered voters voting, according to unofficial results.

Georgetown's voting was similar to that of the rest of Ward 2 in that Mara was the winner with Sekou Biddle and Bryan Weaver both beating out Vincent Orange for second and third place.

The presumptive winner, Orange, however captured the most votes in Wards 4, 5, 7, 8. He won over Mara by 1,120 votes and the outstanding mail ballots are unlikely to close that gap.

The results will not be certified until provisional, curbside and mailed ballots are all counted.
