Winter Weather Advisory for D.C.

Overnight mixtures of snow, sleet and freezing rain will make for a messy morning commute Tuesday.

Despite the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday, the DC Snow Team (Department of Public Works and the District Department of Transportation) will be patrolling the streets effective 9 p.m. Monday. Nearly 200 trucks will treat the streets for the predicted snow, sleet and freezing rain beginning to fall in the District Monday evening.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a winter weather advisory for the D.C. region. Though accumulation is expected to be less than an inch of snow and "around one tenth of an inch of ice" according to the NWS, the Snow Team will be on hand to continue work into the morning as needed.

DDOT and DPW encourage residents and business owners are encouraged to salt stairs and sidewalks. Report icy conditions to 311.
