Forest City Could Help Find Georgetown's Next 100 Acres

is negotiating a partnership with Forest City Washington to lead the institution's efforts to expand its footprint beyond its home in Northwest Washington, D.C.

The main campus, including the , occupies a little more than 100 acres in the 20007 Zip Code. In the , Georgetown set the goal of identifying and developing its "next 100 acres," and a recent request for proposals (RFP) specifically mentioned reservation 13 in Capitol Hill East and Poplar Point in Ward 8.

The Washington Post first reported the negotiations between the University and Forest City Washington. The Post reports that the relationship would involve both maximizing use on the original 1789 campus in Georgetown and finding an appropriate location for a satellite campus.

Chris Augostini, chief operating officer at Georgetown, discussed Georgetown's choice, pointing to ongoing large projects the company is working on. 

The Post reports, "Augostini said that with complex mixed-use projects such as The Yards, near Nationals Park, and Waterfront Station in Southwest D.C., Forest City had demonstrated expertise in long-term planning, finance and development."
