George Washington University Student Found Dead in Dorm

University says that there is no indication that her death was a result of a criminal act.

George Washington University announced that a student has been found dead.

The university issued this statement Tuesday:

"The George Washington University is deeply saddened to report that a female student was found deceased in her West Hall residence hall room early this morning on our Mount Vernon Campus. The George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) found the deceased student at around 8 a.m. this morning. There is no indication that her death was a result of a criminal act.  One parent of the deceased has been notified and the university is currently working to notify the other parent."

The university's Mount Vernon campus is located in DC's Foxhall neighborhood, in northwest DC.

The campus is home to the Elizabeth J. Somers Women’s Leadership Program, a yearlong  academic/residential program for incoming women students; the Department of Forensic Sciences; the Interior Design Program and the GW Pre-College summer program for high school students. It is also home to the University Honors Program and The University Writing Program.
