GU Calls on Alumni to Support Campus Plan

DeGioia: 'The names of hundreds of members of the Hoya family can send a message that we support strengthening Georgetown's position as a world-class university.'

Two weeks before the final Zoning Commission hearing on the Georgetown University campus plan, University President Jack DeGioia called on alumni to show their support for the proposal to expand and grow their alma mater.

In an email sent to graduates, DeGioia called the proposal one of "modest, targeted growth opportunities," a throughout the zoning commission hearings. 

The case he makes in the letter sounds much like what he might say at the Nov. 17 meeting and reflects the points made in a . DeGioia boasts the economic contributions of the university and its hospital to the greater D.C. community. He also acknowledges "the concerns of our neighbors" and touts the with new trash collection, a shuttle to M Street and additional funding for police.
