Keg Limit Abolished for Georgetown On-Campus Parties

At the urging of students, Georgetown University has abolished a 2007 one-keg limit for on-campus parties.

On-campus parties at Georgetown University will no longer face a one-keg limit.

The decision came down from Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Olson Thursday night in response to a bill passed by the Georgetown University Student Association senate earlier in the week.

"It seems clear that this is a reasonable and promising approach to bringing the center of student social life back onto campus,” Olson wrote in an email to student newspaper, The Hoya.

The desire to bring social life on campus is a direct response to the 2010 campus plan agreement between the university and the community.

The campus plan agreement details that one of its goals is for the university to develop "an integrated living and learning campus and the community’s goal of as rapid a transition as possible toward a more residential undergraduate on-campus environment."

"It’s never been clear to me what the justification for the keg limit was and I applaud the decision to get rid of it,” ANC 2E Chairman Ron Lewis told The Hoya.
