'New' Holy Trinity School Principal Prepares for School Year

Principal Charlie Hennessy has taught at Holy Trinity School for more than 30 years.

The new principal at in Georgetown is anything but new when it comes to knowing the school, its culture and its students. Charlie Hennesy previously served as the assistant principal and taught for 30 years at the Georgetown Catholic school. This is his first school year where he will serve as principal.

Holy Trinity is one of eight Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Washington with new principals for the new school year, according to a news release. The other D.C. school with a new principal is Sacred Heart School in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood.

“We strive to develop young women and men that excel academically and use their developing skills and knowledge to benefit their communities,” said Charlie Hennessy in a press release from the Archdiocese. “We teach them to reflect on their own lives and the changing world around them to ensure they are making a positive contribution to God’s creation.”

Hennessy promises in his "Welcome from the Principal" message on the school's website, updated July 2012, that he will work to "communicate more effectively with parents" during the upcoming school year.

The first day of school is Aug. 27, there is a 1 p.m. dismissal.
