New Stoddert Principal was Once a Stoddert Parent

Last week Chancellor Kaya Henderson announced that for the 2012-2013 school year, . In an email to Patch, Pride wrote that she remembers sending her son on a bus to kindergarten and first grade at Stoddert Elementary from their post at Bolling Airforce Base.

Below is an excerpt from the note she wrote to Patch:

"A short little note, my oldest son who graduated from high school this year was on the first bus to Stoddert from Bolling AFB in 1999 for Kindergarten, and then 1st grade. I feel as if I am “coming home” to Stoddert.  Being an Air Force wife for 23 years I am looking forward to “growing some roots” supporting the Glover Park and Bolling AFB families that choose Stoddert as a their child’s school as we did.   I am eager to once again participate in Stoddert traditions like the Big Chili, International Night, and the Halloween Parade!  Stoddert is fortunate to have such a culturally rich and dynamic community, one of the main reasons it was the school of choice for our family 12 years ago.  Having been at Jefferson MS these past two years at the request of Chancellor Rhee, to support the transition of Jefferson MS into Jefferson Academy, I always knew I would be moving on to another adventure in DCPS.  Being “interim” principal in my mind is just a word, I have always known I might have to leave at the end of a school year, so I just work as if there is no tomorrow.  Every minute, every day counts when it comes to educating children and supporting teachers.  I am honored and excited to accept this position at Stoddert Elementary.  I do hope that once we all come together everyone will see that my goal is continue the tradition of excellence Stoddert has always held and work with the students and teachers on their path to success."
