On-Campus Pub to Have 'Substantially Equivalent' Hours to Off-Campus Bars

Student leaders signed a memorandum of understanding for the New South Student Center pub with Dr. Todd Olson, Georgetown's vice president of student affairs, Thursday.

Georgetown University students want their future on-campus pub to offer hours for alcohol sales that are similar to bars in the Georgetown neighborhood that students frequent. The New South Student Center, a $15.5 million project, is meant to provide a center on campus for student social life.

The demand for "substantially equivalent" alcohol sale hours was one among several items listed on the memorandum of understanding signed by student leaders and Dr. Todd Olson, Georgetown’s vice president of student affairs, Thursday.

“The New South Student Center will be an important center of campus life, and GUSA will maintain an active involvement in the project to ensure students’ interests continue to be put first,” GUSA President Clara Gustafson said in a press release.
