DC Assault Basketball Co-Founder Faces Drug Charges

Curtis Malone is charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin.

Curtis Malone, the co-founder of DC Assault, was arrested Friday and charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin as part of a year-long Drug Enforcement Administration investigation, the Washington City Paper reports

DC Assault is part of the elite boys Amateur Athletic Union, a program known for connecting talented young basketball players with college teams, often securing them athletic scholarships. The programs current list of college alumni includes players at Georgetown University, Howard University, the University of Maryland and George Mason University locally. 

The City Paper reports:

"Malone was arrested Friday in D.C.  as part of a year-long DEA investigation. Agents who searched his home found what's believed to be kilo of cocaine, 100 grams of suspected heroin, a handgun, and unnamed items associated with heroin sales, according to court documents. Malone and another alleged dealer have been charged with conspiracy to distribute heroin."
