Hoya's Otto Porter Drafted by Washington Wizards

Porter was the No. 3 overall draft pick Thursday.

Otto Porter, a former Georgetown University men's basketball player, was the third overall draft pick in the NBA Draft Thursday night, going to the Washington Wizards as their first pick of the draft. 

Porter's third-place pick is the highest selection for a Hoya Allen Iverson was the No. 1 pick in the 1996 Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, according to the Georgetown Basketball website

"We're going to do damage next year," Porter said, according to WTOP. "I already know what they bring to the table. All I do is plug myself in there, and it's going to be fun."

The six-foot-eight Porter decided to leave his slot as a forward for the Hoyas after his sophomore season. 

In the 2012-2013 season Porter was named BIG EAST Player of the Year and a First Team All-American by the Associated Press.

"It's a dream come true to get drafted and then get a chance to play in D.C., where I played two years in college," Porter Jr. said, according to the Georgetown Basketball website. "It's a true blessing."
