NCAA College Basketball: No. 2 Georgetown Falls to Florida Gulf Coast 78-68

The Georgetown Hoyas are out of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Championship, but you can still root for your second choice team.

The No. 2 seed Georgetown Hoyas are out after their first game in an unexpected 78-68 loss to Florida Gulf Coast. This is the seventh time ever in NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament that a No. 15 seed bested a No. 2.

Georgetown started out with an 18-11 lead, but was down 22-24  by the end of the first half.

The Washington Post describes what happened to ultimately bring down the Hoyas:

"They were soundly spanked in the second half, falling behind by 19 before mounting a tentative rally that came far too late. By then, when a three-pointer by Markel Starks with 51 seconds remaining pulled Georgetown within four, the whole arena, it seemed, was on its feet and on the Eagles’ side, not interested in witnessing a Georgetown comeback."

According to ESPN, Georgetown is the first team in tournament history to be eliminated in four straight tournaments by a team seeded at least five spots lower.
