Photos: Rowers Race on the Potomac in 2013 GW Rowing Invitational

The GWU Invitational is the largest collegiate rowing competition in the Washington metropolitan area.

The annual 2013 George Washington Rowing Invitational takes over the Potomac River and the Georgetown waterfront this weekend.

Teams began competing from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, and the event continues from 8 to 11 a.m. and again from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday.

You can view the finish line from the Washington Harbour, sitting outside at restaurants like Tony & Joe's or Nick's Riverside Grill, or by sitting on the steps down to the river in the waterfront park.

There is also a large screen live-streaming the races, and the rowers make their way down the Potomac River from west of the Key Bridge, wrapping up at Thompson Boat Center.

The invititational includes teams from Georgetown, Navy, Saint Joseph's, M.I.T., Gonzaga, Holy Cross, Virginia and the Florida Institute of Technology.
