No Enhanced Security for Dark Knight...Yet

Georgetown Loew's operating normally after tragedy

I am not into comic books or their movie offshoots, but the Nolan Batman franchise has delivered enough interesting plot lines and characters (The Joker was truly terrifying) for me to want to see the Dark Knight Returns. I even watched the first two movies yesterday to freshen my memory of previous scenes and details.

I was horrified to hear of the tragedy in Colorado this morning and almost changed my mind about attending DKR this afternoon. But, as with terrorism, I ultimately decided that the random violence plaguing our country is not going to keep me inside and in fear.

Upon entering the theater I saw no security guards and was a bit surprised. I asked the manager on duty if my safety could be guaranteed and she honestly replied "No.".

Sure enough, the probabilities are remote and widespread panic is not warranted. Still, the FBI is considering raising the security threat level in the US and it would make sense for movie theater chains to get out ahead of this and provide some assurances to their customers.
