The first day of school is one of my favorites. So much promise and potential comes to the fore and all slates are clean.
Today, a wonderful group of Soddert fifth-graders entered class ready to read great works of literature, think about and write about the events of the day, extend their knowledge of mathematics, become informed about Egpyt, learn how to debate with each other in a civil way, practice the scientific method, and many, many other things.
In addition, they will get ample opportunity to support each other with kindness and compassion, respect, and patience. We only have 179 school days to go! Time to get to work (and play)!
