Haren's Window of Oppurtunity Closing

Nat's starting pitcher Dan Haren had a solid career with a number of teams before joining the Nats.  Unfortunately, that career may be in jeopardy as Haren's inability to locate his cutter is fading.

Manager Davey Johnson, after the 8th staight Haren start without a win, said he was going to have a "sit down" with the pitcher to see how he can help him regain his form.  Johnson said his cutter, which is a mix between a slider and fastball, is coming in flat and elevated.  Opposing batters have feasted, resulting in a league-high 19 gopher balls surrendered by Haren this season.

The Nats had been "eating face" for three games coming into today's rare 12:05 start.  The Rockies had been going in the opposite direction, losing 5 road games in succession while scoring only 7 runs.  The visitors scored 3 in the first and 3 in the 4th off Haren and the Nat's bats fell silent again until a 9th inning homer by Ryn Zimmerman.
