Washington Football Club Name to be discussed in Georgetown on Monday
The Oneida Nation will lead a public symposium on the name change issue swirling around the Washington Football Club on Monday at 11am at the Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown. The event will feature many speakers, including Congresswoman Holmes-Norton, and will precede the annual fall meetings of the NFL beginning at the same South Street location a day later.
Washington Football Club Owner Dan Snyder has said the team will NEVER change the mascot's name. My opinion is that he is underestimating the critical mass of opinion that is forming and taking a critical look at the issue. My prediction is that a name change will occur by the 2019 season, if not sooner.
Even President Obama has recently addressed the issue, saying "I'd think about changing."
