Georgetown Pools, Library and Recreation Centers Are Open

Keep cool nearby today.

Georgetown pools, library and area recreation centers are open and ready to keep you cool, despite the powerful .

The high temperature today will reach 99 with a heat index of 105 — a potentially dangerous situation for the thousands who are without power (and therefore air conditioning) today. There is a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon, but they are not expected to be nearly as severe as they were last night. Temperatures will cool into the upper 70s tonight.

The is open until 5:30 p.m. and is "nice and cool" promised Ms. Harris, the children's librarian.

The Guy Mason Recreation Center is also open and keeping the air conditioning pumping until it closes at 4:30 p.m.
