Weekend Guide: Taste of Georgetown, Tour de Fat and More

The weekend is here! How are you going to spend it in Georgetown, Arlington and beyond?

1. Taste of Georgetown

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday on Wisconsin Avenue south of M Street NW in Georgetown.

Why Go: The 20th Annual Taste of Georgetown will take over Wisconsin Avenue Saturday. The event features 50-plus signature dishes from more than 25 popular Georgetown dining spots and the first-ever Georgetown Chef Showdown.

Price: Tickets are $5 for one tasting and $20 for five tastings; Craft Beer and Wine Pavilion tickets are $10 for three tastings or $4 for one tasting.

2. Glover Park Day

When/Where: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Guy Mason Recreation Center, on the corner of Calvert Street and Wisconsin Avenue NW in Washington.

Why Go: Glover Park Day is celebrating its 24th year. According to the event  notice, "Glover Park Day 2013 will feature the best of Glover Park: good friends, great food from local restaurants, live music, crafters, a flea market, community organizations, local businesses, kids’ activities and much more."

Price: Free to attend.

3. Tour de Fat

When/Where: Parade registration begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. The bike parade runs from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the festival from noon to 5 p.m. at the Yards Park, 355 Water St. SE, Washington.

Why Go: Like bikes? Love beer? The second annual Tour de Fat DC is for you. The event features a "bicycle parade that weaves through city streets, designed for people of all skill levels; all are welcome and colorful costumes are encouraged. For the rest of the afternoon, the stages heat up with world-class acts and the park becomes a celebration unlike any other," according to the event website.

Price: Free to attend. Proceeds from beer and merchandise sales and donations from parade participants benefit the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and
Black Women Bike DC.

4. Rosslyn Outdoor Film Festival

When/Where: Friday at dusk (around 8 p.m.) at Gateway Park, 1401 Lee Highway, Arlington.

Why Go: Enjoy an outdoor showing of classic '90s film "Clueless." Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and enjoy a flick in Rosslyn with a view of Georgetown. What? You think "Clueless" isn't a classic? That's way harsh, Tai!

Price: Free.

5. 21st Alexandria Armenian Festival

When/Where: 1:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, 301 King St., Alexandria.

Why Go: "The Festival provides an opportunity for participants to purchase and taste different Armenian Foods, take part in activities, enjoy Armenian Cultural Videos, enjoy Entertainment, and learn about numerous artifacts on display," according to the event notice.

Price: Free to attend.
