Backstory: Mayfair & Pine

Wondered why it's called Mayfair & Pine? Did you know it's owned by a famous TV chef? Ever had Mushroom Toast?

It’s always fun to learn a little back story about a local business.

Right here in our backyard of Glover Park, Mayfair & Pine—a gastropub opened last year by Chef Emily Sprissler a Season 2 contestant on Bravo’s “Top Chef”, and her husband Jason Cote—has become a top breakfast and dinner stop in Northwest DC.

After just opening in July, a few short months later, Mayfair & Pine was named a finalist in the prestigious James Beard Award and has been written about in numerous press publications.

The name? Mayfair is an area in London. Pine is a street in San Francisco. Both have special meaning to the couple.

I’ve followed Mayfair & Pine on Twitter and Facebook for a while now and love their use of social media, promotions and deals, and their frequent requests to bring your children along (you don’t see that too much in DC!).

The breakfast menu is heavy on omelets, with a friendly kids menu light on the budget.

Their dinner menu features appetizers like Beef Wellington Nibbles and Mushroom Toast. You might have a hard time choosing an entrée amongst the Bison and Lamb Burgers, Shepherd’s Pie, Cioppino, and meat and seafood galore.

Top it all off with 5 delicious desserts, including Fried Apple Pies.

Help support the local economy and pay a visit for breakfast or set up a post-Valentine’s Day dinner date this weekend.
