Street Closures, Bus Service Impacts for H Street Festival and Fiesta DC Parade/Festival

Whether you are driving, taking the bus or biking around the city this weekend, there are some road closures for the 2013 H Street Festival and the Fiesta DC Parade/Festival that you will need to know about to avoid headaches. 

2013 H Street Festival

This event will be held on Saturday from noon to approximately 7 p.m.

 The following streets will be closed from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m.:

• Travel will be prohibited across H Street from 4th  Street, NE to 14th Street, NE

H Street Festival Detour Route

H Street: Eastbound Detour
Traffic heading eastbound on H Street, NE shall:

• Turn right onto 4th Street, NE
• Continue south on 4th Street, NE towards F Street, NE
• Turn left onto F Street, NE heading eastbound towards Maryland Avenue, NE
• Turn left onto Maryland Avenue, NE
• Proceed northeast bound on Maryland Avenue, NE
• End Detour at the intersection of Maryland Avenue/15th Street/Florida Avenue/ H Street, NE 

H Street: Westbound Detour
Traffic heading Westbound on H Street, NE shall:

• Turn left at 14th Street, NE and head southbound to Maryland Avenue, NE
• Turn right onto Maryland Avenue, NE and head southwest bound towards G Street, NE 
• Turn right onto G Street, NE and continue towards 2nd Street, NE
• Turn right onto 2nd Street, NE and head northbound towards I Street, NE
• Turn right onto I Street, NE and head eastbound towards 4th Street, NE
• Turn right onto 4th Street, NE and head southbound towards H Street, NE
• Turn right onto H Street, NE, ending detour

Northbound Traffic (South of H Street between 13th Street and 3rd Street, NE)
All traffic heading northbound between 13th St. and 3rd St. south of H St. will be detoured along G Street, NE eastbound down to 2nd Street, NE  Traffic shall:

• Turn right onto 2nd Street, NE heading northbound towards I Street, NE
• Turn right onto I Street, NE heading westbound and ending detour at the original northbound street where the detour began

Southbound Traffic (North of I Street between 13th Street and 3rd Street, NE)
All traffic heading southbound between 13th Street and 3rd Street, NE, north of I Street, NE, will be detoured along I Street, NE westbound down to Florida Avenue, NE. Traffic shall:

• Turn right onto Florida Avenue, NE and head southwest bound towards 14th Street, NE.
• Turn right onto 14th Street, NE and head south towards G Street, NE
• Turn right onto G Street, NE heading eastbound along G Street, NE and ending detour at the original southbound street where detour began

90, 92, 93 U Street-Garfield southbound toward Congress Heights

• Regular route to 8th & K Street NE
• Bear right Florida Avenue NE

FIESTA DC:  This event will be held on Sunday from midnight to noon and will take place on the following streets:

• Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 9th and 14th Streets, NW
• 13th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW
• 12th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW
• 11th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW
• 10th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and E Street, NW

PARADE:  This event will be held on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will take place on the following streets:

• Constitution Avenue, NW between 7th and 14th Streets, NW
• 7th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Independence Ave, SW
• 12th Street, NW between Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue, NW

Due to the Fiesta DC Festival & Parade, Route 5A, 32, 34, 36, 54, 64, 70, 74, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will run on detour.
