Weekend Metro Station Closures, Track Work for Sept. 27 - 29

Metro's weekend track work schedule will impact travel times on portions of all the Blue and Orange lines for the weekend of Sept. 27 - 29. Work begins at 10 p.m. Friday and continues through system closing Sunday.

Blue and Orange line trains will operate slightly less frequently than normal, but there will be regular weekend service on the Red, Yellow and Green lines, according to a Metro News release:

Blue Line

Trains will run every 16 minutes

Blue Line trains will operate as follows:

• Between Franconia-Springfield & Largo Town Center: Every 16 minutes throughout the weekend (regular service is every 12 minutes)

Work Performed:  Between McPherson Square and Smithsonian stations, crews will upgrade track infrastructure, make structural repairs, mitigate tunnel leaks and install new ceiling tiles.

Travel Tip:  Before traveling, consult the trip planner at wmata.com to check the special schedule and reduce your wait time. (Trip Planner is updated to reflect weekend rebuilding schedules on Fridays; please check on Friday afternoon or later.)  You will experience the additional wait time on the platform.  Once your train departs the station, it is not expected to encounter additional delays en route.

Orange Line

Trains will run every 16 minutes.

Orange Line trains will operate as follows:

• Between Vienna & New Carrollton: Every 16 minutes throughout the weekend (regular service is every 12 minutes)
