regnu71 February 13, 2014 at 08:02 PM
How is this "local" news? I joined the Patch for local news, not Trending national news!
Brian February 13, 2014 at 08:07 PM
Sachem patch should not mean national news roundup of Chicago patch. If it heads that route, I'm done. It is already heading in the wrong direction, but this will end site visits for me. Plenty of local news, schoool issues, sports to report

This is not Concord Patch news! Very disappointing and I'm very close to leaving this site for good.

Not that I like it either but Patch is a project of AOL and they are making a last-ditch effort to make it somewhat relevant before they finally need to kill it off.

I am so extensively sick of the messed up and very un-local "news" stories that I now see popping up on my facebook feed. There have been a few awful ones in particular, including this cheerful gem. It's very obvious that patch and aol have gone through cutbacks and are now resorting to more of the mindless trash that AOL is truly known for. When patch started it seemed to be a great idea within each community and seemed to hold value in communication and content. But now its just turned disgusting. Will you please stop these posts??????? Sincerely, Gordon Fromm (Bedford, MA. resident and Lexington, MA. small business owner.)

Trending: Concord Patch is loosing readership!
denny j February 13, 2014 at 10:29 PM
Why isnt the riot at the Florida State Fair trending on the patch ??
Chip Long February 14, 2014 at 08:57 AM
Give us the local news , , , , I am not interested in national news from the patch. Since Huffington has become involved with AOL, everything has gone down hills and fast!
FedUpRealist February 14, 2014 at 08:59 AM
Who on Long Island gives a s#%t what goes on in a Democrat, run-to-the-ground city like Shitcago???...We have our own PUNKS running around RVC...

And so it goes. Despite claims to the contrary that "Trending Now on Patch" is a great success, virtually every one of these postings receives the same complaints in the comments section. My local site has been w/o an editor since October, so I'm at least used to the less-than-local focus. But prior to Hale taking over, at least we didn't have the same, pointless and irrelevant 2-3 article staying in the same position for a day or longer. Articles rotated and, occasionally, a local user-generated post or two would hit the feature spot. In other words, at least it had the feel of a site being updated and attended to. As it stands now, there's really no reason to check Patch more than once a day. ::::::: Short term "successes", such as reduced costs associated with massive layoffs, can evaporate quickly if users start abandoning the site because it becomes a redundancy rather than something unique. You guys better figure out a way to get on track here, quickly. Patch is a habit that can disappear in a matter of days for most if they lose interest. You don't have to look very far to see that many have started to do precisely that.

typical Chicago

Whoever made the decision to get rid of local editors and reporters should be fired and at least our former editor should be re-instated and given a bonus. This current formatting and selection of stories is the poorest form of journalism I have seen since our own local papers were taken over by political hacks. I guess we will have to ressurect a real local blog....and print paper for Imperial Beach. Who will help? Send your suggestions or offers to help to SaveIBonline@yahoo.com Ed Kravitz

Since when is being shot in Chicago news? It's the murder capital of the United States!
tanya February 14, 2014 at 12:44 PM
I HATE that they have "local" stories for my area (Laguna Beach CA) and then it turns out it's headlines from way far away! That's what Huffington Post and MSNBC or whatever other national news site is for!! MAKE IT STOP! Please, PATCH, go back to truly local news! UGH! Everyone hates this new thing you have going.
Paisley February 14, 2014 at 02:29 PM
@denny j - 1. Because this site is in a death rattle. 2. I'm sure you know the reason it is not trending. 3. In Chicago a few hundred black teens rioting is childs play. Only white people hurt black people. Don't you know that?
steve forte February 14, 2014 at 07:17 PM
