Stoddert Elementary families are asked to contribute to a back-to-school drive Saturday, Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Stoddert Recreation Center gym. The PTA needs donations of time, supplies and money to help support families in need both within the Stoddert community and beyond.
"As we prepare our children for school it is hard to think that another parent in our community may not have the financial resources to fully prepare their own children," the PTA wrote in an email to parents.
School supplies, like backpacks, pencils, glue sticks, crayons and more are needed. See the .
"All donations will first go to any Stoddert families that need back to school assistance and then to DC's Central Union Mission's Operation Backpack program" according to the PTA email.
For volunteers who can attend to help stuff backpacks, refreshments and music will be provided.
If you cannot make the event Saturday, supplies can be dropped off through Aug. 9 in a box inside the school front office.
To get involved, RSVP to Nitchet Quarles at firstname.lastname@example.org to make a pledge of time, money and/or supplies.
