Fifty Shades Parody, American Roots, Fusion, MLK Lunch and Learn To Be A Curator

Here's what to do in and around Georgetown this weekend.

50 Shades! The Musical, a parody of the popular book series Fifty Shades of Grey, will bring songs like "They Get Nasty," "I Don't Make Love" and "There's A Hole Inside Me" to the Warner Theatre. The play centers around a suburban ladies book club reading the books. It is not for those under 18 but "doesn't cross boundaries that would make general audiences squirm." 
When: Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Kevin Peter Jones All-Star Band plays at Blues Alley.

"A Mouth Full Of Birds," a Georgetown University senior thesis production, co-produced with Nomadic Theatre and directed by Caryl Churchill, addresses the human experience of falling apart. 
When: Thursday, Jan. 16 to Saturday, Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 19 at 2 p.m.

"American Roots music that satisfies like homemade apple pie." Girls, Guns and Glory plays at Gypsy Sally's.

Rhett Miller, the front man and main songwriter of the hard-charging rock ‘n’ roll quartet Old 97's, will be at the Hamilton Live.

The band who described its latest album Olly Oxen Free as being "like the cry bellowed during a children’s game of hide-and-seek... [it] signals that it’s safe to come out from our hiding spots, gather together, and celebrate late into the evening," Dangermuffin will perform at Gypsy Sally's.

If you're into funk, soul, jam, rock and fusion, head down to Gypsy Sally's for a night with DC-based Covered With Jam band and Ron Holloway.

"Take Hold of History" at the Tudor Place. Kids, 10-15, will learn what it's like to be a museum curator.

Gourmet buffet lunch and award-winning desserts in celebration of Martin Luther King at the Mansion on O Street.
