<p>The Dumbarton House is a federal-style home owned and operated by the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America, which purchased it in 1928.</p>
<p>Dumbarton house was once occupied by Joseph Nourse, a senior of the Treasury department who served in that capacity for over 50 years and under six presidents. Nourse lived at Dumbarton House fo 9 of those years. The house offers tours, special exhibitions, lectures, concerts and private events.</p>
