Family, Friends Leave Behind Memorial for Sami Ullah at Key Bridge Crash Site

A makeshift memorial was put up at the crash site where a Leesburg man died on March 10.

Family members and friends of 21-year-old of Sami Ullah have left behind flowers and photos at the crash site where the Leesburg, Va. man died earlier this month.  A poster of Ullah and flowers surrounded the tree Monday near where police say Ullah’s BMW struck a curb while going approximately 90 miles per hour over teh Key Bridge on March 10. The two passengers inside the car with Ullah survived, according to the Arlington County Police Department. The Washington Post spoke with Ullah’s family in an obituary published over the weekend, recalling him as smart and faithful. They said that it was uncharacteristic of him to be speeding. Memorial Service Sunday for Aiden Noah Barnett

A Memorial Service will be at Saint Alban's Parish, Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m.

Family and friends will gather for a memorial service at Saint Alban's Parish, Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m. for Aiden Noah Barnett. He was 18 months old. Barnett died in his sleep Tuesday, Nov. 6. According to the death notice posted on The Washington Post: "Loving son of Christopher Barnett and Alexandra Boozier; beloved brother of Zachary Barnett; adored grandson of William Barnett, Teresa Davis, Antonia and Henry Farrington." His grandparents, the Farringtons, are Georgetown residents. St. Albans is located at Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues, NW.

St. Elizabeths Doctors Also Find Muth Fit for Trial

The Georgetown murder suspect has been under mental evaluation at St. Elizabeths since February.

Doctors from St. Elizabeths now agree with two experts for the prosecution in the Viola Drath murder case: Albrecht Muth is competent to stand trial. In the new report dated Tuesday doctors at St. Elizabeths doctors told the court that Muth is mentally capable of representing himself in court, according to the Washington Post. Previously the St. Elizabeths doctors told the court that Muth was delusional, but might make sufficient process to become competent for trial. They now believe he is. Muth is indicted on the charge of first degree murder with aggravating circumstances in the death of his wife Viola Drath in her Georgetown home last August. Go-Go Legend Chuck Brown Dies at 75

Brown, known as the 'Godfather of Go-Go', was a native Washingtonian.

Chuck Brown, the “Godfather of Go-Go," will sing no more. Brown died Wednesday at age 75 at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Harriet Kassman, of Harriet Kassman—the high-fashion Friendship Heights boutique that closed in 2009 after over 30 years of dressing Washington's women for the capital's social scene—passed away on Thursday, Feb. 23, at the age of 90. Her boutique store, which was located at the Mazza Gallerie (and before that, on Jenifer Street NW) from 1977 until she retired in 2009, was known as the place to go for that very special dress, which Kassman would personally help a customer to select, and which would be custom-fit by one of the store's full-time seamstresses, reported The Washington Post when the store held its final going-out-of-business sale. Viola Drath, 91, Dies in Georgetown

Drath was a writer, academic, diplomatic adviser and fixture in German-American relations.

Viola Herms Drath, wife of Albrecht Muth, died Thursday in her Georgetown home at the age of 91. Drath was born in Germany and was a prominent figure in German-American relations. Her death is under investigation as a homicide. Drath moved to the United States after marrying her first husband, U.S. Army Col. Francis S. Drath. In Washington, Mrs. Drath became a journalist, writing for Handelsblatt, a German paper, and later for The Washington Times. She wrote a well-received biography of former German Chancellor Willy Brandt, "Willy Brandt: Prisoner of His Past," which was first published in 1975. Betty Ford was 93.

Former First Lady Betty Ford, wife of late President Gerald Ford, died at age 93, the Washington Post reports. Obituary: Susan Heckler, 55, Former Professor at McDonough School of Business

Susan Heckler passed away Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. She was formerly a marketing professor at Georgetown University.

Susan Heckler, Ph.D., former visiting professor of marketing at Georgetown University  and longtime University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business faculty member and Opus Distinguished Endowed Chair in Marketing, passed away on Tuesday morning of complications due to kidney failure. She was 55. Heckler began her professional career as a chemist, earning her undergraduate degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota.
