UPDATE: Water Restored in Burleith

GU now reporting low water pressure after Reservoir Road, R, S and T Streets lose service Wednesday.

Update Dec. 20 DC Water spokeswoman Pamela Mooring  told Patch that some customers in the area may have experienced "sputtering of air or discolored water when turning on their faucets" because of earlier work in the area related to the water outage. According to Mooring, "If this happens, please flush your faucets, beginning with the lowest elevation in your home, until the water flows normally and clear. Update 12:44 pm:   An email from Georgetown University indicates the earlier outage in Burleith may have affected campus water service, too. GU: Man Solicits Georgetown Student from Car

Suspicious person in Monday incident claimed to be a Georgetown University employee.

A man claiming to be a University employee solicited a Georgetown student walking in Burleith early Monday, according to a message from the Georgetown University Department of Public Safety. Jay Gruber, the chief of Georgetown University Department of Public Safety, described the incident Monday in an email to the GU community: "A Georgetown student, walking near campus in Burleith, was solicited to get into the vehicle of a person claiming to be a Georgetown University employee.  The person was not driving a Georgetown vehicle and did not have Georgetown University ID.  He did, however, flash an ID claiming he was a university employee.  The student refused the offer and…

Santa Claus Visits Georgetown, Burleith

The man in red rode down M Street and through Burleith on a shiny red fire engine Sunday.

Santa Claus stopped by 15 homes in Burleith and rode down M Street in Georgetown Sunday thanks to a special invitation from the Burleith Citizens' Association and a ride from Engine Company 5. This was the second year in a row the BCA managed to snag the big guy for a visit the weekend before Christmas. According to Karen Landes from the BCA, Santa left Engine Company 5 in style and rode on top of the truck for a tour down M Street.  Shoppers and neighbors greeted Santa along the way. After his joy ride, Santa visited 15 houses in Burleith where he took last minute requests from children on the "nice list" and he left a small toy to give them something to tide over their excitement.
