Comcast's 'small-refrigerator-sized' utility boxes are a point of contention among Georgetown residents.
Comcast, the District Department of Transportation and Georgetown neighborhood leaders are in discussions about the "small-refrigerator-sized" green utility boxes that have recently appeared on street corners in the historic district. At last week's Advisory Neighborhood Commission, Commissioner Tom Birch said the fact that the boxes appeared on street corners without any architectural or design review made him "livid." "This business is coming into our community and just making an aestheitic wreck of what we try to preserve in the historic district," said Birch last week.
